Preferences

Control how PackCam handles statistics, recordings, shareable links, and packstation sessions using the Preferences page.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Preferences let you control how PackCam handles statistics, recordings, shareable links, and packstation sessions. Open them from the sidebar or mobile menu (Preferences). The page also includes Devices, Packing, and Integrations for day-to-day setup; this article focuses on the behavior toggles and timeouts stored in your account preferences.

Statistics

Exclude admins from statistics

What it does: When turned on, admin accounts are left out of employee statistics and summaries, so dashboards and reports reflect frontline packers more clearly.

When it’s off: Admins are included in those same views.

Default in the app: Off (false).

How to change it: Flip the toggle; it saves immediately.

Video recording

Auto-stop timeout (minutes)

What it does: Sets how long a device can stay inactive during a recording before PackCam automatically stops the recording.

Limits: You must enter a whole number of at least 2 minutes. The input has a minimum of 2 in the UI.

Default if not set: 5 minutes (used when the app has no value yet).

How to change it: Enter minutes and click Save. If the value is invalid, you’ll be asked for at least 2 minutes. If you don’t change the saved value, Save stays disabled.

What it does: When on, PackCam automatically creates a shareable link when a recording is completed, so you don’t have to create links manually each time.

Default in the app: Off (false).

How to change it: Flip the toggle; it saves immediately.

Sellercloud + ShipBridge: If the recorded order is linked to a Sellercloud order, each generated link is saved to that order’s PACKCAMVIDEOS custom column—so the video is reachable straight from the order in Sellercloud. If an order has more than one video, the links are stored in the same column, comma-separated. This happens only while this preference is on (the column needs the auto-generated link). The PACKCAMVIDEOS order custom column must exist in your Sellercloud account; orders that don’t exist in Sellercloud, or accounts without the Sellercloud integration connected, are simply skipped.

(The in-app section title uses “Sharable”; “shareable” is the usual spelling.)

Packstation

Auto-logout employee on inactivity

What it does: When on, PackCam automatically logs out packstation employees after they’ve been inactive for the time you set. After logout, an overlay appears on the monitor so the next employee can sign in (for example with a QR scan or manual login).

When it’s off: The app saves a disabled timeout (0). Sessions stay active until someone logs out another way—the UI describes this as sessions remaining active indefinitely from the perspective of this timeout.

How to change it: Use the switch. Turning it off applies immediately and shows a confirmation that session timeout is disabled.

Inactivity timeout (minutes)

What it does: How long the packstation can be idle before the current employee session ends and the login overlay appears.

When it’s shown: Only when Auto-logout employee on inactivity is on.

Limits: At least 5 minutes. Values below 5 are rejected with an error.

Default when timeout is enabled: 5 minutes is used as the fallback in the UI when no value is loaded yet.

How to change it: Enter minutes and click Save. Save is only enabled when the number is valid (≥ 5) and different from what is already saved.

Auto-stop video on printed label

What it does:

  • On (default in the app): Recording stops each time you finish an order and print the label—one recording segment per order in that workflow.
  • Off: Recording continues across orders. It stops for the current order when the next order starts, or when the Video recording → Auto-stop timeout (inactivity) is reached—whichever applies first in practice on the device.

Default in the app: On (true when the setting is missing in loaded data).

How to change it: Use the switch. A success message explains whether video will stop when an order is shipped or keep recording after ship, matching the toast text in the app.

Pause / Resume button

What it does: When on, a Pause button appears on the device during an active recording. Employees can tap it to pause the recording and tap again to resume—without stopping or discarding the current session.

When it’s off: No pause control is shown on the device. Recordings run continuously until stopped or auto-stopped.

Default in the app: Off.

How to change it: This preference is set from the Web App only (Preferences → Packstation). Flip the toggle; it saves immediately. Once enabled, the Pause / Resume button becomes available to employees on the device.

Note: The Pause / Resume button only appears on the device when this preference is turned on from the Web App. Employees cannot enable it from the device themselves.
