What Is a Packstation & Binding

Understand what a Packstation is and how to bind it to a PackCam device

Last updated: March 12, 2026

What Is a Packstation?

A Packstation is the software bridge between your WMS (Logiwa or ShipBridge) and your PackCam device. It runs on the packing computer — the computer used to scan and process orders.

When the packer scans an order in the WMS, the Packstation:

  1. Detects that a new order has started.
  2. Tells the PackCam device to start recording.
  3. Forwards SKU scans to PackCam in real time.
  4. Tells the device to stop recording when the order is complete.

There are two types of Packstation depending on your WMS:

WMSPackstation Type
LogiwaChrome Extension
ShipBridge (SellerCloud)Windows App

Runs in the background: Both Packstation types work silently in the background. The Chrome Extension continues working even when the extension popup is closed. The Windows App continues working when minimized to the system tray. You don’t need to keep anything open to record orders.

Binding a Packstation to a Device

Binding connects the Packstation software to a specific PackCam device so they communicate. This is a one-time setup per packing station.

One-to-one: Each Packstation is bound to exactly one Device, and each Device can have one Packstation bound to it.

Step 1 — Get the Binding Code (from the Packstation)

From the Chrome Extension (Logiwa):

  1. Install the Chrome Extension on the packing computer.
  2. Click the PackCam extension icon in Chrome.
  3. Enter the Serial Number of the device you want to bind.
  4. The extension will generate and display a 2-digit binding code.

From the Windows App (ShipBridge):

  1. Install and open the PackCam Windows App on the packing computer.
  2. Enter the Serial Number of the device you want to bind.
  3. The app will generate and display a 2-digit binding code.

Step 2 — Complete Binding in the Admin Panel

  1. Go to Admin Panel → OrdersDevices section (top of page).
  2. Find the device you entered the serial number for — 3 numbered binding codes will have appeared on its card.
  3. Select the code that matches the 2-digit code shown in your Packstation (Chrome Extension or Windows App).
  4. The binding is confirmed.

After Binding

The Packstation is now bound to the device. The device will:

  • Listen for order start/stop signals from the Packstation.
  • Auto-start and auto-stop recording with each order.
  • Record SKU scans with timestamps.
